HIQILI Organic Geranium Essential Oil

This bottle holds a single botanical: USDA certified organic Pelargonium graveolens oil, steam distilled in Egypt from the leaves and flowering tops. No carrier oil, no diluent, no synthetic aroma. Nothing is blended in to stretch the volume.

Why it smells like a rose

Two alcohols carry the whole note.

Citronellol

One half of the pair that gives geranium its rose character. It also carries the soft, slightly green edge you notice before the sweetness arrives.

Geraniol

The second half — rosier and sweeter. Together the two are the reason geranium can stand in for a rose note without rose absolute.

Geranium is one of the few essential oils whose chemistry is well documented: alongside citronellol and geraniol you will find citronellyl formate, geranyl formate and isomenthone. The balance shifts with the harvest, which is why the numbers are worth checking per batch rather than taking on trust.

From an Egyptian leaf to this bottle.

Pelargonium graveolens is grown in Egypt and cut for its leaves and flowering tops, then steam distilled — no solvent, no pressing. What comes off is a pale green-yellow oil that opens rose-like and fresh, with a green-herbaceous middle and a faintly sweet tail.

Geranium is a softener rather than a statement. Five places it fits without asking much of you.

01 · Face, diluted

Blend into a carrier oil or an unscented facial oil at the low end of the dilution chart. Geranium sits well next to frankincense and lavender without either one disappearing.

02 · Body lotion, doctored

A few drops stirred into an unscented lotion turns a plain body cream into something you look forward to using. Mix in a small batch rather than the whole tub, so the scent stays fresh.

03 · Diffuser, in small doses

Geranium is a middle note that can overwhelm a blend. Two or three drops against a citrus or a wood is usually enough to round it out.

04 · Hair and scalp oil

Add to a carrier oil for a pre-wash scalp massage. The rosy note lingers in hair longer than most florals, which is why it turns up in so many natural perfumes.

05 · Soap and DIY

Holds its note reasonably well in cold-process soap and in solid lotion bars. Anchor it with a base note if you want it to still read clearly once the bars have set.

Dilution

Dilute it before it touches skin.

Geranium is a concentrated essential oil, and repeated undiluted contact can sensitise skin over time. Carrier oil first — jojoba, fractionated coconut or sweet almond. Patch test the inner forearm and wait 24 hours before going wider.

Face and sensitive skin 0.25% – 0.5%
Scalp oil 0.5% – 1%
Everyday body oil 1% – 2%

Before you open the bottle.

Skin Dilute first. Patch test 24 hours before wider use.
Eyes Keep well away. If it gets in, rinse with running water and seek medical advice.
Mouth Do not swallow.
Children and pets Keep the bottle out of reach. Ask a qualified professional before use on children or around pets.
Drains Do not pour leftover oil down the sink — essential oils are harmful to aquatic life.
